My family…
Ok…I’m not trying to be narcississtic here, because I really want this blog to be about you instead of me. You can learn all about me at http://www.deborahdunn.com/html/about_the_author.html
By the way, that is my husband, Rick, on the front page with me. I call him, Rick, the Rock. That is for two reasons–he is absolutely the most stable, dependable, supportive man on the face of the earth, but he is also very passive, quiet, and slow to move, which can be maddening at times since I’m more like the Energizer Bunny. Actually we are the perfect example of the Turtle and the Hare, of Brier Rabbit fame. Our differences haven’t made for an easy marriage–but I have learned a lot from him and I do believe being married to him has made me a better person, as difficult as our struggle has been. You know you are with the right man when that happens, and something we will talk about more on this site as the days go by.
We’ve been married all of our lives, since I was a junior in college. I don’t suggest anyone get married that young these days, but back in our day that was not at all uncommon. He is a wee bit older than I (5 years) and he is a field representative for the Seed Production division of Cherry Seed Farms/Monsanto. That means he travels quite a bit in eastern North and South Carolina certififying the soybean crop that will be sold to farmers for seed. We lead very busy lives so it is a challenge these days for us to spend time together, but when we do we like to back road in the Appalachians, the Southwest, or just hang out at home where we are doing a good bit of remodeling. Our last two houses have been foreclosures that needed extensive remodeling, so that has kept us way too busy. If want to test your marriage, try living in a house while you remodel it! Not for the fainthearted!
For a few years I was actually a professional artist, and still sculpt, paint, and make jewelry. But I have little time for that these days. All my creativity has been directed toward writing, marketing my books, and my counseling. But I hope to be offering some of my artwork in my online store soon.
We are a very entrepreneurial family, and have numerous businesses and projects going all the time. We have two adult children, Lee and Greyson. Lee is an unmarried hunk in his mid-thirties living near Manteo, North Carolina. He owns his own business in crop scouting and soil sampling, and he and my husband work together a great deal. He’s looking for a wise, mature beautiful woman of God who who loves animals, wide open spaces, and living near the beach to share his life.
Our daughter, Greyson, is married and lives in the southern mountains of North Carolina with her husband, Michael. They have a baby daughter we love dearly. Greyson and Michael own their own business as well, www.wakawei.com, and are distributors for a couple of brands of kayaks manufactured in New Zealand. They travel a great deal working the outdoor festivals, but mainly enjoy spending time with their little girl and their three dogs.
You can see all the pictures of my family in my Photo Album in Facebook. I do hope you will follow me on Twitter, because that is where you will learn what I do on a daily basis. You will learn more about the writing and publishing process of books, what happens in a critical incident debriefing, and any late breaking news on media appearances, new articles I’ve posted, and specials that are being offered on my web site.
God bless and thanks for dropping by!
